It was a real honour to be asked to write a song for the Ballad of the Great War 1917. The Radio Ballads are held in very high esteem. Introduced in the 1950s by Charles Parker and Ewan Maccoll they weave songs around the oral testimonies that inspired them and gave birth to some of the most enduring folk songs of the twentieth century like Shoals of Herring and School Days Over. Had a wonderful morning telling stories in my local pub. Thanks to Miles and everyone at the Waggon and Horses in Sheffield for having me. We had over 60 babies and toddlers squeezed in for a 30 minute session of stories and songs with lots of joining in. Watch this space for further events

Had some great fun recently celebrating World Book Day with the children of St Bega's Primary School in Hartlepool. Also had lovely return visits to Chorlton Park Primary School working all day stimulating listening, speaking and motor skills with Early Years and Reception children in Manchester and spent 2 action packed days engaging with every pupil in West Park Primary in Hartlepool and Whitkirk Primary in Leeds
